Philadelphia - Final Day

It's our final day in Philly and it's time we bade farewell to the land of 'brotherly love'. Our train service to NYC was in the afternoon, so we had some time to kill in the morning. After having our caffeine fix at Starbucks, we went into Hard Rock Cafe to get some souvenirs (it's almost like a ritual for me and Joyce), then back to the hotel to do a quick re-pack.

We spent a little bit of time walking towards the opposite direction of historic Philadelphia, i.e. towards the direction of Logan Square. There isn't much to see here apart from buildings and man-made sculptures. The weather didn't look that promising either.

On our way to Logan Square, we passed by the Cathedral Basilica of SS Peter and Paul, where a funeral service for a native Philly servicemen killed in action was about to start. It was a very solemn sight with family and friends and a group of veterans paying their last respects.

We noticed some modern objects, which resemble giant checkers and chess pieces whilst walking towards the direction of Logan Square. Really cool stuff.

The marble sculpture shown in the picture on the left is called “The Prophet” by Jacob Lipkin, a well-known American sculptor.

We had our lunch at Barbuzzo restaurant in the hope of eating their paella dish but unfortunately they didn't serve that during lunch. We were rather disappointed and ended up eating some sandwich and fries.

After lunch and enough time goofing around the Walnut Street shopping district, it was time to make our move to New York. The taxi ride from our hotel cost about USD 10 and the journey took less than 8 minutes. The interior of the train station is lovely, a huge difference from Penn Station, NY
